Synch has successfully assisted Fourthline Trust Services AB in obtaining registration as a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) under the EU's eIDAS Regulation1 with the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS). Fourthline Trust Services AB is a Stockholm-based company and part of the Fourthline Group, as a subsidiary of Fourthline Group Holding B.V. The registration is a milestone that places Fourthline Trust Services AB among only five other entities currently holding this status in Sweden. The QTSP status strengthens Fourthline's position in EU markets and enables the company to offer qualified trust services to financial institutions across the EU.
QTSP registration means that a provider meets the highest standards of security, reliability, and legal validity for electronic trust services, and PTS registration confirms that Fourthline Trust Services AB meets the requirements of both the Swedish supervisory authority and the EU regulatory framework.
Fourthline is a leading European identity verification and compliance technology provider, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Amsterdam, offering an AI-driven platform for digital know-your-customer (KYC) processes, fraud detection, ongoing AML monitoring, and qualified electronic signatures (QES), to banks, fintechs, and insurers across Europe, with clients such as Revolut, N26, and Trade Republic.
Obtaining QTSP registration with PTS is a demanding process that requires extensive regulatory, technical, and legal documentation, including a thorough review of the applicant's organization, security solutions, certifications, and compliance processes against the eIDAS Regulation's requirements. Synch assisted Fourthline throughout the entire registration process, providing advisory services in four distinct areas:
(1) Regulatory,
(2) the registration procedure with PTS,
(3) corporate law and
(4) data protection.
Synch’s team which was led by Johan Ragnar included Hannah Hallgren (regulatory and registration), Johan Toma (corporate) and Elisavet Dravalou Samor (data protection).
“Becoming a QTSP on our own terms is something we've worked toward with real conviction. It's the natural evolution of what Fourthline BV has always been building: a platform where identity verification and qualified trust services aren't two separate events but one seamless, regulated experience” said Fourthline Trust Services AB Board Member, Ralph Post.
“Obtaining QTSP status involves a lot of moving parts. Synch worked alongside our team throughout the process, bringing local regulatory expertise and a clear sense of what each stage of the application required, and supporting our dialogue with the Regulator. They were a pleasure to work with," said Fourthline Senior Corporate Counsel, Tim Schnezler
