As intellectual property becomes an ever more critical driver of business value, the firms that thrive are those that can navigate complexity without losing sight of commercial reality. IAM Patent 1000 2026 is now live — and Synch is recognised once again.
This year marks a milestone for the firm's IP practice: My Janse enters the IAM Patent 1000 for the first time, recommended in the Next Generation category — one of only nine Swedish lawyers to receive this recognition. She joins Mathilda Nordmark, ranked in Individuals: Litigation (Bronze), and Sara Sparring, recommended in Individuals by IAM Patent 1000 for more than a decade and this year in Individuals: Transactions for the second consecutive year, placing her among just 14 individuals recognised in Sweden in this category.
At firm level, Synch retains its place in Firms: Transactions — one of only six firms in Sweden — and holds its Bronze ranking in Firms: Litigation, first awarded in 2024.
IAM's editorial reflects the depth and breadth of the practice
"Synch has built a strong reputation in Sweden as a go-to firm at the intersection of IP and technology. Acting for both domestic and international clients, it is regularly instructed on significant mandates across life sciences, telecoms, digital innovation, green tech and media. The team combines dispute resolution with strategic advisory work, supporting clients in protecting, managing and commercialising their IP through every stage of development. This includes structuring licensing and collaboration agreements, shaping portfolio strategy and safeguarding proprietary information, particularly trade secrets. The firm is also active on multi-jurisdictional matters, working closely with international counsel and handling disputes before Swedish courts as well as in arbitration."
Central to the practice are Nordmark and Sparring, who together cover the full spectrum of contentious and non-contentious IP work. IAM notes that Nordmark "is particularly active in patent disputes and strategic advisory matters across sectors such as life sciences, retail and fintech", recently representing KRKA in a cross-border invalidity action against Merck Sharp & Dohme before Swedish and Slovenian courts, shaped by evolving CJEU case law.
Sparring, whose in-house background in the medical device sector informs her approach to regulatory and commercial work, is described as handling "cross-border mandates involving both disputes and commercial strategy." She continues to advise Apotek Produktion & Laboratorier AB (APL) across IP and regulatory matters, most recently supporting the company's acquisition of a strategically important pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
