Today marks the launch of AGRD Partners, a new group formed by six of Sweden’s leading business law firms: Allié, Born, Morris Law, Next, Synch and TM & Partners. Backed by Nordic private equity firm Axcel, AGRD Partners brings together around 250 professionals across nine offices to drive progress in a sector long shaped by tradition.
For Synch, this is a natural next step in our mission: to bring calm to legal questions by combining deep expertise with modern technology and practical delivery. Together within AGRD Partners, we will invest in innovation, capability building and new service offerings that help clients move faster with confidence.
Independent brands. Shared ambition.
Each firm in AGRD Partners continues to operate under its own brand with full autonomy for client relationships and delivery. Joint initiatives - technology, training, and new services - are developed and rolled out under the AGRD Partners platform to benefit all clients.
A central management team and board are being established to guide the group’s investments and respond to a rapidly evolving legal landscape. The board is chaired by Maria-Pia Hope, bringing extensive leadership experience from the top tier of Swedish business law.
A modern ownership model - same high standards
Swedish regulations restrict external equity in law firms. To enable long-term investment and innovation, the firms within AGRD Partners will operate outside the Swedish Bar Association. This change is driven by regulatory requirements, not by a change in our commitment to quality.
To safeguard professional standards, independence and confidentiality, the group will operate under the AGRD Partners Code of Conduct - an extensive ethical framework designed to meet the expectations placed on leading business lawyers. Client information will continue to be handled with strict confidentiality.
Why now?
Client needs are evolving quickly: more efficiency, clearer outcomes, and advice that connects legal risk to business impact. By combining forces in AGRD Partners, we can deliver on that brief - resourcing matters more intelligently, applying technology where it creates real value, and giving clients the clarity to move forward.
“Joining AGRD Partners is more than a milestone for Synch – it’s part of a movement to redefine what business law can be. The world is changing faster than ever, and companies need advisors who don’t just keep pace, but set the pace. From day one, Synch has challenged the traditional model: business-oriented, tech-driven and always focused on clarity. With AGRD Partners, we are scaling that vision. Together we are building a new blueprint for legal services – one that is smarter, faster, and designed around the real needs of ambitious businesses. This is not just about solving legal questions. It’s about empowering companies to move boldly, confidently and decisively into the future.” Jim Runsten, CEO, Synch
This is progress - for our clients, for the market, and for the future of business law in Sweden and beyond.
